We are proud to announce Mr Brayden Stone has been recognised as one of Australia’s most outstanding leaders in The Educator’s 2025 Hot List.
The Hot List celebrates “the movers and shakers” of Australia’s education sector who are creating positive change in the lives of teachers and students through innovative evidence-based initiatives.
Brayden’s inclusion in the Hot List recognises his transformative impact in service to educators, and his influence in educational leadership, which extends across classrooms, leadership teams, and national networks.
“It is incredibly humbling to be recognised in The Educator’s 2025 Hot List,” Brayden said. “Education is a collective effort and this recognition reflects the work of the students, teachers, colleagues, and school communities I have been fortunate to learn from and work alongside.
“There are so many remarkable educational leaders across Australia who give so much of themselves every day, often without public recognition. To be acknowledged alongside such dedicated professionals is both an honour and a reminder of the strength of our sector. I feel proud, but also grateful.”
A career defined by innovation and impact
With a distinguished career spanning over 20 years, including as Principal and Deputy Principal across Foundation to Year 12 schools, Brayden has consistently been at the forefront of strategic change and educational innovation. His leadership is anchored in the belief that education is a powerful catalyst for transforming lives.
“I was drawn to education because of its power to change lives," he said. “Growing up, I had teachers and coaches who saw potential in me before I saw it in myself. Their belief shaped the person I’ve become.”
Before joining Southern Cross Grammar, Brayden served as the Director of the Ivanhoe Institute. There, he spearheaded initiatives that translated research into practical and impactful classroom practice, elevated the teaching expertise of 500+ staff, and strengthened the school’s professional culture.
Brayden’s influence extends beyond the school gates into the broader education landscape. He serves as the Chair of Kamaruka Education Centre, supporting neurodiverse learners, and as Chair of Education360, advancing real-time data use to improve learning outcomes.
“I am driven by the belief that every child deserves an exceptional education and that great schools change communities. Innovation for me is not about chasing trends, but about thoughtful design and continuous improvement grounded in evidence and people,” he said.
Looking ahead: the vision for Southern Cross Grammar
Brayden’s vision for Southern Cross Grammar is bold and future focused, defined by clarity, purpose, and excellence: “I want Southern Cross Grammar to be known for high-impact teaching, powerful learning experiences, strong community partnerships, and a culture where every student feels deeply connected.
“The Hot List recognition reinforces the direction we are heading and gives us momentum. It shines a light on the incredible potential within Southern Cross Grammar and highlights our commitment to building a school that is innovative, inclusive, and future-focused.”
