Learning Support

At Southern Cross Grammar, we are committed to ensuring that every student is supported to achieve their full potential. Our approach to Learning Support is grounded in evidence-based practices and collaboration between teachers, families, and specialists to meet the diverse learning needs of our students.

In the classroom, teachers use differentiation to ensure that all learners are appropriately challenged and supported. This includes targeted strategies for students who require additional assistance, as well as enrichment and extension opportunities for students performing above expected levels.

Under the leadership of the Head of Inclusive Education, a dedicated team supports this work across the school. This includes Learning Assistants, who provide in-class support for students requiring adjustments, as well as our School Nurse Team, Pastoral Care Team, and School Psychologist, who contribute to the holistic wellbeing and success of every student.

Our approach to Learning Support is grounded in evidence-based practices and collaboration between teachers, families, and specialists to meet the diverse learning needs of our students.

We provide targeted intervention programs in key areas such as reading and numeracy to support students who require additional assistance. These interventions are informed by data and progress monitoring to ensure students receive the right support at the right time.

Southern Cross Grammar also recognises the importance of extending and challenging our high-performing and gifted students. We offer specialised opportunities through our Advanced and Enrichment Mathematics programs and accelerated VCE pathways, enabling students to engage in higher-level learning and to reach their full academic potential.

Our goal is to provide a supportive, inclusive, and aspirational learning environment where every student can experience success, confidence, and growth.
