Liam Giacchi Awarded Premier’s VCE Award

Congratulations to Liam Giacchi (Class of 2020) on being awarded the Premier’s VCE Award for his high performance in attaining a perfect Study Score in Further Mathematics.

For his Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Liam studied Specialist Mathematics, Physics, Mathematical Methods, Chemistry, English and Further Mathematics.

He scored an impressive ATAR of 98.90 and a perfect Study Score of 50 in Further Mathematics, including high study scores in his other maths subjects; 44 in Specialist Mathematics and 46 in Mathematical Methods.

Liam joined Southern Cross Grammar in 2012 as a Year 4 student. His maturity, passion for his peers and the school community, and zeal to aim high saw him achieve significant accomplishments in his academic studies but also lead his peers in a number of leadership roles spanning from Class Captain, School Captain, to various Portfolio Captain positions and Head Prefect in 2020.

An avid Mathematician and Scientist at a young age, some of Liam’s achievements in the subject areas include receiving High Distinctions and Distinctions in the Australian Mathematics Competition from 2014-2019, winning first place in the 2016 Galway Maths Olympiad and being an Elite Award recipient in the Education Perfect World Series Mathematics and Science Competitions in 2016.

The Premier’s VCE Awards recognise students’ outstanding academic achievements in 2020, and we are proud of Liam’s mathematics skill being recognised at a state level.
